Kapitel

In this week’s women’s sharing circle from Nakivale Refugee Settlement, we explored a gentle truth: we are born with Spirit inside us. Through the story of “Two Wild Horses” — Luna (our personal mind) and Star (the Universal Spirit/God), you will hear how life becomes clearer and kinder when they move together. When storms come, and Luna feels lost, a quiet mind helps her hear and feel the way home.

What you’ll discover …

  • Spirit 101: The Universal Spirit is constant; our personal spirit is always growing (quote from Sydney Banks)
  • Quiet before answers: When we settle inside, guidance rises from within.
  • Forgiveness & self-love: Real testimonies of dignity, sobriety, and hope.
  • Share to grow: When we share, we heal — and help our neighbors heal.

Simple Practices from This Session …

  • Pause when storms arise: Instead of running or reacting, stop and breathe. Let your heart settle before acting.
  • Listen for the quiet voice within: Like Luna under the moonlight, notice the soft feeling that points you home.
  • Walk with Spirit daily: Remember you were never meant to live this life alone — Star walks with you always.

Who This Is Created For …

Women and families in refugee settlements and ANYONE who wants practical peace, courage, and a deeper connection with Spirit in daily life.

You are not alone. You are peace, love, and wisdom in motion.

If this touched you, share it with a friend or family member.

0:03Lea WernliSo hello and welcome everybody from Germany and from Kenya and from Uganda. Um, I'm going to go ahead and start the sharing. We're still waiting for Phillips, but I wanted to start with David's group. David, can you hear me well?

0:26David (Übersetzer)Yes, I can hear you very well.

0:28Lea WernliPerfectly. Okay. So David, I would like to start with your group and I would like to ask them, what has unfolded since last week? What have they heard in the teachings? What has been helpful for them during the week in their lives so that they can just share what is— what they're seeing and what's on their mind? And David, if whoever speaks, if they could come forward so that I can see them and we can all see them.

1:34David (Übersetzer)Uh, last, last week I discovered so many things. I discovered about forgiveness. I discovered so many things about love. Uh, our teachings of last week, they gave me hope and understanding. Even though there are so many things I went through, I have understood that life has to continue. I learned to quiet my mind even though some challenges can be there, but the best solution is to quiet our mind in order to get a solution of challenges we are facing in life. Before, I didn't know how to forgive people, but through the sharing, I have understood that Forgiveness is very important because it helps someone to to have peace of mind.

3:56David (Übersetzer)The sharing was very nice because through the sharing I can feel peace inside me. This is what I discovered in our last sharing. This is Eugene.

4:13Lea WernliAsante, Eugene. Asante.

4:16David (Übersetzer)Asante sana, Eugenie.

4:19ChristinaYeah.

4:20David (Übersetzer)Thank you too.

4:26Lea WernliAnyone else who would like to share?

4:27David (Übersetzer)I'm called Miriam. I live in Khashojwabi here in Nakival settlement. First of all, I thank very much Eugene For being a good woman in our community, because most of the time she used to call me because I had a lot of thoughts and I was drinking too much each and every day. I was not able even to take care of my children.

5:37Verschiedene TeilnehmerinnenMe sweswi kosta chakula, ni endle ni rhandza na ya hi kona chakula. How was it, Carl?

5:45David (Übersetzer)First of all, I used to suffer much because if I don't drink, I was feeling maybe I can't be a human being. But since Eugene started calling me and sharing with me about to love myself, I'm saying that I have improved in my life. This woman, Eugene, she's a very nice woman to me because the time we met, she started teaching me about to love myself. I didn't know how to love myself. I thought maybe I'm useless in the society. But through the 3P sharing, I have uncovered something in my life.

6:45I've seen that I'm also a human being like other people. I've learned how to forgive myself. I've learned how to love my children because I used to spend much time away from my home because of alcoholism. There is a day she started teaching me about the love of God, and she asked me the question, Miriam, do you love yourself? Then I answered her, no, I don't understand about loving myself. For sure, she started telling me about how I can love myself, and from that day we have a talk with her for almost 30 minutes.

7:54And when I went back home, I started crying because I discovered that in my heart I am also a human being like other people. But before, I thought maybe I am useless in the society. I really thank so much the sharing of 3 principles. What I can say, may God bless you so much for the sharing you are doing. You are helping a lot of people who are suffering because they don't understand there is something they miss in their life. Thank you so much!

8:34Lea WernliMiriam, that is just such a powerful testimony. I am so grateful that you shared that with us today.

8:56David (Übersetzer)I thank you too.

8:59Lea WernliMiriam, your story gives me so much hope, and it reminds me why we meet, why we do this together. It reminds me of the power of one person just taking the time and giving their love to share this understanding and how— what a difference it can make. I'm so happy, Miriam, that you have seen how valuable your life is in this world, how much God loves you, and, and I hope you know that we love you.

9:55David (Übersetzer)Thank you.

10:09Lea WernliAnd I would also like to thank Eugene, who has been sharing with other women. It's such a blessing that she's, she's doing this.

10:19David (Übersetzer)Thank you.

10:31Lea WernliThank you. Asante sana.

10:34David (Übersetzer)Yeah. My name is Alphonsine. Thank you for the sharing of last week. It was so nice. I am able now to control myself because before I didn't know how I can control myself. I could enter into a deep thinking, but through the sharing, I know how to control. I know how to to differentiate bad thought and good thought in me. We really enjoy your sharing, Shalia. We ask you not to stop from here because you are helping a lot of women to understand themselves, if they are also human beings like other people. Thank you so much.

12:18Lea WernliWow, thank you, Francine. Thank you so much for sharing.

12:24David (Übersetzer)Thank you too.

12:31Lea WernliYou know, there was, uh, a time in my life too where I was overwhelmed by all of my thinking, and I thought something is definitely wrong with me. I'm not like other human beings. I would walk along the riverbank and I would cry. I would cry so much because I felt so sad and so wrong. I thought something was definitely wrong with me. And me too. I didn't know how to control my thinking. It just would run off with me in any direction and make me feel so bad.

13:47And then I learned how to quiet my mind. I learned how— I learned how important it is to be in a quiet mind, and it changed everything in my life too. And it was the gift of someone also sharing with me, someone taking the time and loving me enough to tell me, help me understand. So I am happy to share with you what was shared with me. And I hope someday, Francine, that you will also share with someone else.

14:58David (Übersetzer)Thank you too.

14:59Lea WernliSo beautiful. Anyone else, David, that would like to share from last night?

15:10David (Übersetzer)No, this is enough.

15:11Lea WernliOkay, okay.

15:13David (Übersetzer)Yes.

15:14Lea WernliAll right, Christina.

15:15David (Übersetzer)Another got it, it arrived.

15:17Lea WernliOkay, great. Okay, Christina, Martha, do you guys want to share anything before we get started with the teaching?

15:25ChristinaYes, I would like to share.

15:26David (Übersetzer)Please, Tina, would you like to share?

15:27ChristinaI would like to share because I am very impressed to know you people, you women, and I'm so impressed how you manage your life and how you learn so quickly. And so I can feel it deep in my heart that you are really changing your lives, and this is so beautiful. I am also—

15:59Lea WernliJust a second, Christina. Let— we want to let David translate that because it gets too much.

16:18David (Übersetzer)Thank you, Cristina.

16:19ChristinaYes, and I want to tell you just a little story from my life because I am quite new with these 3 principles. I'm really training to quiet my mind. So here is my little story from this morning. I went to the forest with my 2 dogs, and there were 2 girlfriends of mine. They also have dogs, and they were talking together. Yes, and they were talking negative things. They were just saying, oh, life is so difficult, and, and I— it hurts me here, and also this goes wrong.

17:25They were really talking about negative things. And I, inside of myself, I got angry because I just— I was in a good mood and I didn't want to, to go down to, to also to hear these things and also to, to start thinking and saying negative things. So when, when I got angry, my thoughts going, ah, these women, I don't like it, I don't want to be with them. And I was really starting, uh, thinking, overthinking.

18:25David (Übersetzer)Wow.

18:37ChristinaAnd then I just go a few steps away from them and playing with my dogs. And then playing with my dogs, I could— I had the chance to quiet my mind down. And then from inside of me, I had a topic that was a nice topic, something like I told them something that makes them laugh. And then we went together with our dogs, and we was we three were happy, and we just laughing and talking about nice things, and everything was.

19:43David (Übersetzer)Nabade apu nikona o anaza pata furá, tu ka matratina pamodzana imbazetu, tu ka anza kuvitani nitani, tu ka sema tu ka furái.

19:52ChristinaSo this is just a little story from this morning. Thank you for listening.

19:58David (Übersetzer)Yeah.

20:05Lea WernliSo beautiful.

20:06David (Übersetzer)It's a, it's a good story.

20:10Lea WernliThank you, Christina. So anybody else? Martha or David, you guys want to share anything before we get started?

20:21David (Übersetzer)Maybe Martha can start.

20:26Verschiedene TeilnehmerinnenI'd like to share. So on Wednesday was a market day here in Homa Bay. Hear me?

20:42David (Übersetzer)Yes.

20:52Verschiedene TeilnehmerinnenI had gone to buy some groceries for the children here in the orphanage. And, uh, I went to one customer, uh, that I always buy cereals from. And she was very angry and she was saying there's a certain lady who had wronged her and she was saying that this lady is so— this lady has really made me mad. And she was telling me, and you know what? She thinks she's so good and perfect and she even went through C-section delivery. So that's— I, I really felt bad about that because I also went through the same procedure when I was giving birth.

22:26David (Übersetzer)Hello.

22:30Verschiedene TeilnehmerinnenSo for five minutes, my mind. I, I, it was like I was just my— I went into a quiet mind and until she tapped me, hey, I, I was just not listening. My mind was very far and, uh, I was, uh, I don't know if I went, uh, into a, uh, uh, Mm-hmm. when, uh, there's no thought, thought of mind, like Like, my mind— I thought— I think I went into a state of no thought. So when she tapped me, I was, I was even, uh, Like, how can I put it? I came back to my normal state of mind.

23:48And I told her that— I decided to share with her that, you know what, I also went through the same process, and I'm just okay. So, uh, she felt, uh, when she felt, uh, she— when I told her, she calmed down and she felt sorry for saying all those words. Yes, so it's good to say, to tell someone the truth if it's hurting you. You just speak what is in your heart so that you don't go when you have it in your, in your, in your mind, or that lady said this. So it's good when you just correct someone. Yeah, she asked for forgiveness and I forgave her. Yeah, that's my story. Yeah.

25:21David (Übersetzer)Thank you, Martha.

25:22Lea WernliThank you, Martha. I'm gonna tell you. I'm gonna tell you why I love that story. David, are you translating? You know, people can really feel where we are coming from when we speak to them.

25:46David (Übersetzer)Na quelli watuenji vara kuaka nalika maiyo.

25:51Lea WernliThey can tell if we're talking to them from our busy mind or if we're talking to them from our loving heart. We can share and say anything to anyone if it's coming from our loving heart. Because it comes with a deeper feeling. And when you speak from a deeper feeling inside of yourself, people do not feel attacked so much. When we speak from our loving heart what our truth is, it can also calm people down in their mind. It touches something inside of them.

27:12They can hear us differently. And that, that is what I heard in Martha's story. Yeah. Well, okay, good. So I, I think I'm going to go ahead and get started because our time is, is getting a little bit short. So today's teaching is inspired by Christina. She did send me today, um, a beautiful passage from a book written by Sydney Banks. It's called The Missing Link, and I hope someday you will be able to read it. And Christina will read that quote later on, but before she does that, I would like to, to give you some context to, to it.

28:37So a couple of weeks ago, I was sharing, um, in this call before you came from the Sudan group, um, with the group in the base camp at Naki Valley. There was a man there named Jonathan, and he was asking me a question. He was asking me, can you tell us something that will help us to support ourselves and live better? And this is an answer to Jonathan's question in a way, what we're going to be talking about today. So I want to— I want you to imagine something, and I want you to imagine 2 horses who were born On the very same day.

29:58From the minute they were born, they were breathing in the same rhythm. Their hearts were beating in the same harmony. Christina, are you raising your hand for a reason, or is that an accident? Okay. So, that's okay. That's okay. No worries. These 2 horses went through all of their life together in absolute, beautiful, synchronized harmony. They completed each other. And when they completed each other, they had the most beautiful life. So I'm going to read to you their story. So the story is titled The Two Wild Horses. Once upon a time, in a wide green valley, lived 2 wild horses named Luna and Star.

31:49David (Übersetzer)They were best friends.

32:03Lea WernliEvery morning they galloped through the tall grass, their manes shining in the sun. Every evening they drank together at the clear blue stream. They knew every sound of the wind and every path under the sky. Life felt peaceful and full. Then one day, a strong storm came. The wind howled, the trees bent, and the rain fell so thick that Luna and Star couldn't see each other. When the storm passed, the valley was quiet again. But Star was gone. Luna was distraught, and she searched and called out, "Star, Star, where are you?" Asa Luna njwali yanza kazakusela.

33:43David (Übersetzer)So asa wem upepo upepo ukowapi.

33:47Lea WernliBut there was no answer. The world suddenly felt too big. The grass seemed taller and the sky seemed heavier. Luna didn't know which way to go. She ran and ran, following strange paths until she was far away from home. She felt so lost and so confused. Then one night, Luna simply stopped running. She stood still under the moonlight and listened. She remembered how calm she used to feel beside the stream. So she closed her eyes and she listened deeper.

35:26She listened beyond the wind and beyond her own scared thoughts. Until she did hear something soft inside. And this is what she heard. She heard, go where it feels quiet and kind. In the morning, she followed that feeling. Step by step, she found familiar smells, old hoofprints, and finally— Finally, she heard a whimmy she knew by heart. It was Star. He had been searching too. They ran to each other and they touched noses, so happy that words were not needed.

37:03From then on, they stayed together. But Luna also remembered something new. She saw that even when they were apart, the same quiet wisdom inside could guide them home. And every evening, as the sun set over the valley, the 2 wild horses stood side by side. Peaceful, whole, and free again. So that story is a metaphor about God and about you. Star is God. Star is the deeper intelligence behind all life. Sometimes in Germany we call it mind. Luna is you.

38:58Luna is your personal mind, the little, the little part of you that is trying to get through this human life, who's trying to face challenges. When Luna is walking through life with Star, everything is so much more calm and peaceful and smart. When you are walking with this intelligence of life within you, your life goes so much more peaceful, it's so much clearer, and so much more loving. Luna and Star are meant to go through life together. That's the best way for them to be in life. But sometimes in your life, a storm comes. It comes from the outside, or it can come from the inside. And then you feel separated from from star, from God.

40:35David (Übersetzer)When I wake up, I feel like I'm a dative, in a kuja, in a tusumbua, and I'm trying to find it to a chaniše, pamodzela pe diomungo.

40:44Lea WernliAnd and you might run away, get lost, be confused, feel stressed.

40:53David (Übersetzer)But when I wake up, I feel like I'm in a kuja, in a tusumbua, and I'm trying to find it to a chaniše, pamodzela pe diomungo.

41:04Lea WernliYou might want to go back home and be with Star, but you don't know how to get back there. You just don't know. But you can do exactly what Luna did. And you can get peaceful. You can stop running and slow down your mind. And like Luna, you can listen within, and you can hear for the guidance somewhere. Within you, coming up to the surface to let you know where to go, how to get back home. And just like Luna, if you follow those quiet impulses, you will be led back home and be reunited with God.

42:39That is the best advice I can give anybody when they're asking me how to support themselves and live better. And that advice is to get back in sync with God, get back in harmony with God. My best advice is bring, bring Luna and Star back together. And maybe something inside of you is asking yourself, what is Shelia talking about? But something in you already knows exactly what I mean. Something in you knows the powerful feeling of you walking in harmony with God.

44:15And something inside of you knows exactly the feeling that we get when we, when we're Luna and we just get lost and get lost away from Star. That, that panicky, lost, stressed feeling. And when that happens, you don't need to worry because all it's telling us is, go back home, go find Star. Go back and remember the day you were born, that you came as 2 into this world, not as one. Go back and remember that you were never alone from the minute you took your first breath.

45:56Go back and remember that you came into this world with a deep intelligence and an inner guidance. And I'm not even talking about the God you hear about at church. I'm talking about the God within you. With whom you have a relationship, your own personal connection. The same God who's writing intelligence and answers in your heart. The wisdom inside of you that's making you very, very smart and able to face any challenging circumstance. So that's all I have to say about that, but I'm going to let Christina read the Sydney Banks quote and then David is going to do his best to translate it. It's a little bit intellectual, but maybe it will land with someone.

47:36David (Übersetzer)Thank you.

47:51Verschiedene TeilnehmerinnenSo beautiful.

47:57ChristinaOkay, I have it here. Yes, this is written by Sydney Banks, Sydney Banks, The Undiscovered Connection. Every human being spirit has direct access to their own experience here on Earth. And every person's spirit is always connected with their own spiritual roots. The source from which it arises. The universal spirit, or impersonal spirit, is content and unchanging, constant and unchanging. The personal spirit, however, is in a conscious state of transformation. All human beings possess the inner capacity to align their personal spirit with the impersonal spirit. Bringing harmony and balance into their lives.

50:39David (Übersetzer)That's it.

50:48Lea WernliSo. We're going to close in just a few minutes, but if anybody has something they want to share that they heard today, they can do that now.

51:02David (Übersetzer)I'm called Eugene. I'm very thankful, first for the good story from Shalia and also the reading from Christina. Uh, the story of the 2 roses. It's a very, very interesting story on us. I have understood that the wind is the example of the challenges we are facing on Earth. I have realized that to quiet our mind is a very good solution to help us facing all the challenges we are going through on this earth. Of course, the world is full of challenges. Challenges come from different ways. Sometimes People we live with can offend us, can talk bad to us, but the best solution is to quiet our mind, to stay in a quiet place, and also we shall come back to our senses.

53:48Verschiedene TeilnehmerinnenThank you so much for your story, Shalia, Christine, and Sister Martha.

54:06David (Übersetzer)Yes, Martha, your stories are very much interesting in this group in Nakivale Sudan Village.

54:14Verschiedene TeilnehmerinnenThank you so much, Martha, Christine, and Shania.

54:26David (Übersetzer)Your sharing today has given hope to these women you are seeing in front of us.

54:36Lea WernliThank you. Anyone else who—

54:45Verschiedene Teilnehmerinnengo ahead.

54:46David (Übersetzer)Yes, Miriam also has something to add.

54:53Verschiedene TeilnehmerinnenYes.

55:07David (Übersetzer)I'm very happy for today. Your stories are very, very wonderful. Uh, the challenge you were facing, not only I but a lot of women have been going through many challenges of life, but you are helping us so much by your sharing to quiet our mind. And also you are teaching us a way to come closer to God. We know that we shall get that strength from God, but also we need you to be closer to us also. This will help us as women to love one another and to sit closer to another one. And this will help us not to blame one another, to say this is bad, this is bad, but it will help us all of us to walk on the same way together as one. And from that, God also is going to add power in us.

56:56Verschiedene TeilnehmerinnenYes.

56:57David (Übersetzer)Thank you so much for your sharing. God bless you.

56:59Lea WernliGod bless you.

57:03Verschiedene TeilnehmerinnenSo thank you.

57:13Lea WernliSis, did you want to share something? I think you had your microphone on before.

57:20Verschiedene TeilnehmerinnenFrom the bottom of my heart, I really want to thank you all for your sharing. Uh, Uh, thank you so much, Sheila and Christine, for joining us in Africa and changing our, our hearts. And, uh, yeah, and now that we, we see, uh, Sheila and Christina are really helping us And also us, it is our responsibility to continue to share to our neighbor, friends, because to share is to care and to share is to grow. Yeah, that way when you share this, how you feel inside, you feel you feel good.

58:39You have a good feeling that you are helping someone. Yes, people, people need us and we need to change the world. Yeah, yeah, we need to share and to share that happiness is free. Yes, and thank you so much, uh, Shailia, for making me understand more about the 3 principles. Yeah, and, uh, I would like to share that, uh, uh, when you, you continue to share, you grow like a flower, you blossom. It blossoms out. You you are a big, a very beautiful flower because I'm a beautiful flower inside.

59:57David (Übersetzer)Thank you so much. Yeah. Asante, Nisana.

1:00:04Verschiedene TeilnehmerinnenAsante, asante, asante. Asante.

1:00:13David (Übersetzer)Asante, Nawe.

1:00:18Lea WernliSo, so thank you, my sisters, for your, for your time today, for your listening, for our unity together. You're such a blessing to us. We learn so much from you, as much as you learn from us. Thank you, our brother David, who shows up and puts himself as a rooster in the henhouse to translate. Yes, without you this is not possible. And, uh, we, we sometimes we like to let the men in too, to, to listen. They are also important too.

1:01:11David (Übersetzer)To everything.

1:01:18Lea WernliHave a beautiful and blessed week, and we will see you next Friday.

1:01:31Verschiedene TeilnehmerinnenThank you so much.

1:01:37David (Übersetzer)Thank you.

1:01:39Lea WernliThank you. Bye-bye, everybody.

1:01:42ChristinaBye.
